Difficulties Faced in Your New Home

Difficulties Faced in Your New Home
They say the “grass is always greener on the other side” but we know that is not always the case. The same is true when you are moving out of state.   In the blog post “Moving Mistakes When Moving Out of California“ we said that many people do not fully commit to the process of relocating because they never fully committed to the move.  Here are some of the reasons we’ve seen families decide to move back.   Loneliness Unless you are moving with your “tribe” of friends and family, you can expect to face a period of loneliness due to a lack of friendships and communities. We see many families leave their communities, schools, and churches and they have difficulty reconnecting during the move.   Misfits If you are leaving CA to move to a more conservative state, you will quickly realize you may not be welcome. Californians don’t have a great reputation in the central and southern states and you may feel out of place. “When you leave California, don’t bring California with you!” is a common phrase we’ve heard over and over when talking to locals in the destination state. Let’s face it, you may be the misfit for a while and you must be prepared.   Home Sick When you leave California you quickly realize there were a lot of things about California that you liked. Maybe you didn’t know you liked it, but you did. And now that you no longer have access to those things you may miss “home” for a while. Great things like family and friends, your favorite restaurant, and even the weather. Changes in your environment will make you long for what was. Push through and don’t give up.   Making a move out of state is tough for most. We occasionally see the family that moves and plugs into a new “home” without any difficulties so you may not experience these struggles but prepare yourself now just in case. We encourage you to brace for what will be your new future. You are moving for a reason and keep looking forward.
